ME/CFS Supporting letter was created by Karl
Hello,
I have received my PIP renewal form. I was awarded PIP for 5 years, but it got extended by a year due to covid.
Nothing has really changed, my condition has been fairly stable. I still have my original form from 2015. I looked at the BW guide and read it suggests to add information if there is no change, I will do this.
The biggest problem I can see is supporting evidence. Last time, A very good Occupational Therapist wrote me a really good letter explaining how my condition affects me. I hoped she'd be able to do it again this time, but unfortunately she is too busy and won't have time to do it, even if the return date of the form is extended.
I moved into a bungalow as it is better for my needs, but this meant changing GPs. I used to have a very supportive GP, but sadly, since moving I haven't had this. And I've not been able to see them since covid. So getting a letter here isn't an option.
Would a letter from my wife help my case at all? She sees every day how my condition affects me and in many ways is better than anybody to write such a letter.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Karl
Yes, I would get your wife to write a letter. I know you don't have a new letter from the occupational therapist, but I would quote from it, in your evidence. After all, if nothing much has changed, what she wrote at the time is still relevant.

Hi Karl, as well as BIS's advice, you might do well to do a diary for which there is a template on here. In my experience for our daughter, assessors placed more weight on this than you might think.
Best wishes,
Denby
