Recording an ESA telephone assessment was created by Anne Berry
Hello
I'm new here, so I don't know if I am following proper procedure by opening a new topic. My apologies to the moderators if I shouldn't have done this.
I have just received a letter saying that I have a telephone assessment for ESA on 20th December. In my original claim form I specified that I wanted a recorded assessment. I don't know what the guidance is on telephone assessments. Are there any suggestions for how I can ensure a recording will be taken?
Thank you in advance for any help offered, and apologies again if I shouldn't have opened a new topic.

Hi Anne

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

You have followed the correct procedure and opened a new topic which is what you should do for new questions.

You can contact your assessor and request that your telephone assessment is recorded, they may cancel your appointment for another time. Whatever happens, the DWP should be willing to extend your claim to allow an assessment to be done.

We hear frequently from members on the forum who have requested that their telephone assessment be recorded only to be told aterwards that there was a problem with the recording.

We suggest that people make covert recordings for their own record and that can be done in any method available to you.

We have a very comprehensive PIP guide. If you look through that, it will give you some idea of how you might answer questions.

If you have any further questions then please come back to the forum.
