Telephone assesment for UC on Thursday afternoon

Hi all,

After waiting for many months, I have finally been allocated a telephone assesment for UC this coming Thirsday afternoon. I am well aware of the guidance offered on this great site & have read through the guides etc. My main question is, I have been granted the standard rate of PIP for mobility, is there any bleed through on the UC assesment yet? i.e. because I have this, does it guaranttee me a certain score for UC?

I have been claiming UC since around April 2021, when I had to give up work because of health conditions. I was originally supposed to speak to a neurolocially trained assesor because of my conditions. I have no idea if that has been granted or not as it's a standard appointment letter. Essentially i suffer with cervical spinal conditions including stenosis & disc problems from C5 to C8 (C5 & C6 previously operated on), I also now have significant disc bulge at T1 - T2, I have had lumbar back surgery as part of my spine crushed the root of my sciatic nerve & on top I have now been told I verly likely have Fibromyalgia & I also have the gene responsible for causing AS.

I hardly go out at all any more as it causes me too much discomfort/pain & makes me very breathless with the pain/excertion on my system. I am waiting for 2 referals to rheumatology but god knows whn that will come through, been waiting for one since October last year! Any guidance from anybody who has been through this would be very much appreciated. As I said above, I have read the guides & am very grateful for that advice.

Thanks

Anthony

Hi Anthony

I hope one of the members who has gone through the same thing will be able to comment.

There is no guarantee at the current time because you have been awarded PIP that they will automatically apply that to your UC.

Hope it goes well for you on Thursday.

Just an update: Assesment seems to have gone well 7 they assigned a physiotherapist to do the call. It was good to speak to somebody who knew the problems around life with the problems I have. Anyway, will update with a decision when I get one.

Hi Anthony

Thank you for keeping us informed as to how you got on, fingers crossed you will be successful.

Once you get your decision you can then ask for a copy of the assessors report called a UC 85.

If you do not get awarded what you were hoping for then the assessors report may help you with your MR if there are any discrepancies.

Hi all, just wanted to let you know that just over a week after my telephone assessment I have been awarded Limited Capability for Work & Work Related Activity. I am so relieved. It's bad enough having health issues hanging over you let alone worrying about whether your money may be stopped. I am so grateful for the guides you have published & thanks to them I worded my application differently to how I may have done without. That is not to say I embellished my application, I would never do such a thing, just worded it in ways they obviously understand. Thank-you so much & if you want to use that quote for any of your materials please feel free to do so.

Hi Anthony

So glad you have got the award you wanted and you can breathe a little more easily. Glad to hear that you found the guides useful. You are absolutely right that getting the wording as they understand it, is really important. Well done.
