PIP Help was created by Suzanne
I applied for PIP and was refused but I appealed and was awarded PIP.
When this award ended I received a letter saying I needed to have it reviewed but when I called them I had to reapply.
Unfortunately I was very ill and really wasn't able to go through all this again.
I did reapply eventually but it has been approximately 6 months and I haven't heard back from them.
I did try to call them once but I get really anxious and stressed about this sort of thing and I ended up waiting on hold for 20 minutes before I lost my nerve and hung up.
I don't know what I should do now?
I am so depressed, anxious and on a lot of pain medication that I just don't have the energy to go through all this again.
I find all this so difficult and have noone to help me.
Any advice will be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi Suzanne

I am sorry that you are struggling.  I understand how difficult it is for you to stay on the phone, but unless you do, it is difficult for you to find out where your case is at. You could write a letter, but I would be surprised if you even got a reply, especially as they have such a backlog.  If you don't have any friends or family who can ring on your behalf, you could see if there are any benefits advisors in your area who may be able to help. advicelocal.uk/
I accept this may be too much for you.

I don't know whether you have contact with your local mental health team and whether they are able to help you.

Sorry I can't be more helpful

Hi Suzanne. So sorry to hear you have been so badly treated by the system. I feel they should publicise better that any Tribunal winner like you and our daughter [twice...]will be faced with a complete reapplication when the Tribunal award runs out. It seems very unfair to me that they do this, like punishment for daring to challenge them imho. So, what do you do now with drained personal resources to deal with getting your very just desserts? Another forum poster a while back reported that she had great service from this no-win-no fee not-for-profit service:
disabilityrights.org.uk
"ABOUT US    You can’t lose with Kester Disability Rights, because all our resources and advice are FREE and theonly time the question of a charge arises is if we take on your case and then only if we WIN.Charges capped at 25% of the total gained. No other charges whatsoever.
Our main work is overturning Personal Independence Payments (PIP) decisions.  Our success rate is over 95%.Kester Disability Rights is a move away from the traditional charity advice model to one that is independent and sustainable. We are not-for-profit with all money raised from cases being reinvested to maintain and grow services. Independence is guaranteed by all funding coming from disabled people so we are a rights-based service. We are not subject to influence by corporate or charitable funders. We have no executive salaries, steering groups or trustee / management boards. So you can only gain from any contact with Kester Disability Rights. "

At least if you call them to enquire if they could help, you would be dealing with someone totally sympathetic and not official. Hope this might help,
Denby
