Hi,

I thought I would start a seperate topic on this issue. I'm currently filling out my UC50 form in regards to having OCD.

One of the things my OCD affects me with the most is my ability to engage socially and travel. I will avoid social contact at almost all costs. I get severely anxious about any social interactions, I always avoid answering the phone unless its a vital call from a doctor, in which case i will be very anxious leading up to and after.

I have no friends outside of the internet as socialising makes me intensely anixious, the idea of having a convenional job in an office is completely out of the question at this point as I could not cope. The same goes for attending work coach interviews , job coach etc . Even having to open the door to accept a parcel is extremely difficult for me. I am able to attend a doctor appoint if I absolutely must but I think the guide says that doesn't count as a social engagement.

My worry is that I am able to "socialize" as in talk to my mother who I live with. Would this stop me scoring 15 points on the Social aspect of UC50. In every other regard apart from talking to one or two family members socialising in any kind of physical (non internet) way is almost impossible for me.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Hi Anxious

We're not moderators so we can't tell you what you will score, however, being able to talk with your mother who you live with will not prohibit you from being awarded points.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I understand no one can give me an answer for certain , I was just wondering if there was anyone who made a claim in similar circumstances and if that affected them. Sounds like it likely it wont affect things though which is encouraging .
