PIP mobility worse and assessment was created by Elidor
My husband's PIP is currently being reviewed - he filled in the form over 6 months ago and just received a text to say they're looking at it. He gets the lower rate mobility and standard rate care. However, over the last 6 months the pain in his knees and foot has got a lot worse and is there nearly all the time. He is now just about in constant pain. I'm thinking he should qualify for the higher mobility rate but as they are currently reviewing his renewal claim should we wait until they contact him or ring the PIP line and tell them. If we did this would it mean putting in a new claim and if so would current payments be stopped? All advice appreciated.

Hi Elidor

If they are currently looking at it, you may be too late to get in any additional information, but you should ring and ask.
If he can't send in any more information, he may be told to put in for a change of circumstances, and they will halt the current process and send your husband a new review form, and then he will have to wait for it to be looked at. His payments would not be stopped - because it's not a 'new claim.'

His other option is to wait and see the result of the claim as it currently stands and put in for a change of circumstances at a later date.
