Hi all, my wife has just had a text informing her that she has a telephone assessment next week, with letter to follow. If I can ask a couple questions, any answers would be appreciated. Would it be wise to cancel the first appointment, she wants me present, and a week may be difficult for me to arrange with my work. Is it likely that the new appointment would be a different type i.e. face to face? Also any advice about what to expect would be appreciated. Thank you, and sorry about length of post Andrew.
If you are not your wife's Appointee then you will have limited opportunity to participate in the assessment. Moral support cannot be underestimated but you should ask the question of whether your wife may appear more capable in your presence than if you are not there.
Be aware, if you do cancel this first appointment then she must attend any second one, whether it is convenient for you or not, failing to do so will result in her file being returned to the DWP and could result in her claim being closed.
