Adding new conditions PIP

Adding new conditions PIP was created by Judy Hartley
What is the procedure in updating my PIP file with two new conditions? Both will be permanent and both affect my mobility. I currently have 8 mobility points, plus standard care. I think these new conditions should qualify me for 12 mobility points.

Do I just write and tell them or do I have to complete a whole new application?

Presumably consultant letters are required? Do these have to be PIP-specific, explaining the effects? Or are general hospital letters to myself and my GP sufficient proof?

Hi Judy

In case you are not aware your real name may be showing as your Forum ID, if this is the case then I recommend that you change it as soon as possible. See

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

In answer to your question, you need to contact DWP and inform them of a change of circumstances, you also need to put the request in writing and send it by recorded delivery.

You will be sent out a new claims for to complete, if you kept your previous form then use that as a template and then update with new conditions. Remember you need to have a condition 3 months before you claim and ongoing for 9 months+

Before you do contact DWP I would use the PIP self-tester; benefitsandwork.co.uk/personal-independe...nt-pip/pip-self-test this will give you an indication as to whether or not you will be eligible for PIP and at what rate.

Send in any recent supporting documents to help with your claim, if you have no recent documents then send what you have. Remember, PIP is not awarded because of the condition but rather the limitations that result and prevent a claimant from completing a range of everyday activities.

Let us know how you get on.

Thank you. What a bore to have to complete a whole new form!
I do have PIP, standard and standard. And yes, both conditions meet the criteria. Shall have to ponder how much stress it's worth!

I'll look into my name appearing.

Hi Judy

Yes you are right, it can be a bore, which is why we advise claimants to keep a copy of the form when you complete it. You can then use it as a guide for when you are next reassessed.
