Hi B&W community,
We recvd the decision today, 2 wks after the WCA tel assmt. Notification was via email prompt to chk UC journal.
Son has been put into LWCRA group.
Great relief. Decision takes mental pressure off. he can concentrate on MH and physical recovery. Reduces financial worries abit.

Well done Sum.
Remember that if you are due backdated LCWRA money, that this isn't paid until the 4th month and onwards from when you started your claim.

Hi All, So here i am again chasing clarification, this time on sons backdated entitlement, post LWCRA decision. I've raised the query on UC journal and waiting for a reply ...... (🍃🍃 can u visualise the tumble weeds in this communication desert ? )
Anyhow, in the meantime DWP have started a 'UC review' ? the claim hasnt reach 1yr yet so thinking the LWCRA was a trigger .... any ideas ?
We have to supply ID again and 4 months stms. My concern is that when reviewing sons acct stms, i can see dad has been supporting him with cash gifts while he was on low/no income. Financial anxiety can to be a trigger for son, so didnt want him to worry.
I am wondering how the DWP treats cash gifts from family ? Any impact/penalties that can be applied ? As always advice appreciated

Hi Sum
The UC regs are quite clear that cash gifts from family are not included as income.

I am appointee for two family members #.
1. Son is U25 + LCWRA atm , is subject to UC review
2. Sister is 50+ Working age + LCWRA atm but has not been subject to review
Just for my understanding, is there any reason why two UC claimants would be treated differently re the review process ? is it age related ?

Hi Sum
DWP does not publish stats regarding what triggers a Benefit review. You can only try asking them.
