Hi there. At what stage were you asked for online verification? I have started my claim and nearly finished my 'to do' list. However, I have not yet been asked to provide this verification. I am migrating from ESA support group to UC.

I'm confused about the online validation. Do we get asked for this after we submit our form. I'm working through my form, and have not yet been asked for the validation.

Hi RosiePosie,
I can now answer your question!
ID Check:
You are asked for this after you submit the claim. Once you submit you immediately get a new 'To Do List' which includes verifying your ID.
When you go in to this you're asked to choose 2 options from a list of verification methods. I only have a passport so I chose this and credit reference check. I forget which order they happened in, but I had to enter my name, NI number, and confirm the DWP could contact outside agencies for this info. Then I did the checks.
Passport - I was asked to verify that UC had the right information for me by checking my most recent letter. (My letter didn't have my middle name but I said yes anyway and this was fine.)
I was asked to input the following info from my passport: Name; Passport Number; Expiry Date. (I thankfully know from other forum members that that these had to be inputted in all caps, EXACTLY as they're printed on my passport!)
Credit Reference Check - This was exactly the same as the Tax office process.
I was asked to select from a list of different time periods when I last:
Opened a mobile phone contract;
Opened a credit card;
Took out a loan;
Opened a 'Mail Order Account' (I had to google to find out if this was the same as a normal online shopping account. The impression I got is that it isn't - that this specifically refers to accounts where you are buying on credit, so this is how I answered the question)
After submitting you are told if your ID has been successfully verified. I'm so relieved this was quite straightforward but I forgot to take a screenshot of the success page, and I would suggest doing this just in case.
Other 'To Do' items are accepting your claimant commitment and answering limited equalities questions.
I also found in the forum that medical treatments does likely include medications, outpatient appointments and therapies. There are only 20 spaces to input different treatments so I put them in as best I could.
(It turns out the migration form doesn't ask when each health condition started affecting you - I thought this was in there as I was working through the practice form recommended by the 52 page guide, which had this in at the time.)
I hope this is helpful to anyone out there as unclear about this as I was. For someone like me it really helps to have these details in advance.
I can now answer your question!

Hiya, just wanted you to know I sent a detailed reply but it hasn't been posted yet. In short it happens after you have submitted your claim and it's not extensive.
Just remember to input all the passport details EXACTLY as it is printed on your passport, in caps if it is in caps. Other posters have fallen foul of this apparently

Hello @SowandGrow
Found you again! Thank you so much for your very helpful detailed response.
Passport - So you input your middle name in in the UC online verification - even though your middle name is not on your most recent UC letter? (My middle name is also not on my most recent UC letter, but is in my passport.)
Credit reference check - 'When did you last open a mobile phone contract'? I am confused about how to answer this. I have NEVER had a mobile phone contract - as always purchased outright. However, I yesterday ordered a sim-only contract. Would this be the same as a mobile phone contract? . . . I'm guessing this is something you cannot answer, but just asking in the off-chance! I have been unable to find the answer online.

Hi David
Would it cause problems to detail 'new/worsening conditions' on the form itself? I had actually planned to list these too because I have not previously made the ESA folk aware of my further health conditions. These further health conditions only transpired after I was already put into the ESA Support Group.
Thanks.
