Sent second PIP2 form was created by Tori
Hi folks.

I have extreme anxiety and am literally unable to make phone calls. I wrote to request a claim form for PIP months and months ago, but heard nothing back (it was probably at least 4 months). My daughter came to visit, and while she was here helped me to call the PIP claim line, and they took all my details (including telling them I had written for a form).

I received a PIP1 form in the post, filled it in and sent it back. I then received an invitation to complete PIP2 online, which I did, before the stated deadline. I have heard nothing since, until...I just received a PIP2 form in the post. The deadline for returning it is very different from the deadline I was given for the online PIP2, leading me to believe I now somehow have two claims open. Is this possible?

If I ignore the PIP2 I received in the post, will my first claim just proceed, do you think? I can't call them to ask. As I said above, I am literally unable to make a phone call, and my daughter isn't here any more to help me (please no suggesting I get someone else to help. My anxiety is SEVERE; there will be no phone call made by me, and no help sought). I can't find any way to email them to ask. Perhaps I should fill in the second PIP2 with the same details and return it with a covering letter explaining? I'm worried that any second claim could cancel the first, but it might already be in process, in which case not sending the form back would, I presume, be bad.

What counts as the start of a claim? The date of posting the first request letter or making the first phone call to claim? Return of the PIP1, return of the PIP2? My heart rate is rising even thinking about it all.

Please be gentle with me!

Hi Tori

I'm sorry that you find yourself in this position.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you what they will think or even what you should do.

You say in your post that you won't ask anyone for help. Does that include your daughter?

If you can ask for her help, she could try ringing the DWP general helpline and just ask a general question about what someone should do if they have received two forms. Without your permission, she obviously won't be able to say anything about you, and I have no idea how helpful they will be, but it might be worth a try.

I have never used the online system. Does it give you some sort of receipt when you have completed it? I wonder whether they think you haven't completed the online form. If you get some sort of electronic receipt or email confirmation, you could send that to them as a matter of urgency, explaining that you have been sent another form and asking why. As you know, they are not good at responding to letters - so I don't know how successful this will be.

I'm afraid I don't have any other idea.
