Hello, My 16 year old son has been invited to claim PIP, previous middle rate care, low rate mobility on DLA since he was 8years. He has autism, dyspraxia, and being assessed for ADHD. He attends a specialist school and has complex needs.
DWP have agreed to me as appointee and I have till June 20th to submit forms. When I called they asked me to give permission for assessor to access his previous medical evidence in DLA claims. I agreed, there are several diagnosis reports etc from when he was younger. Will they actually access these or should I send again. His current EHCP contains all the evidence re diagnosis etc but the old reports have more detail which would help claim. I would be sending in a massive amount of paperwork though. Just not sure how much to trust that DWP will access previous info? Thanks
This is a difficult one - and I think you have to go with your gut instinct. The fact that they asked you if it was okay for the accessor to access his previous medical records sounds positive, but as you pointed out in your post, you're not sure you trust the DWP. Whether you send it again, there is no guarantee that an assessor will read it before they speak to you - I hope they will - but they don't always. Some members will say - send again - and some will tell you not to - so that's why you have to go with your gut instinct and do what feels right for you.
