seems to say that if you're receiving housing benefit, but not if you're receiving IR-ESA, a single person can receive the standard Disability Premium of £43.20/week, plus the Severe Disability Premium of £82.90/week, plus the Enhanced Disability Premium of £21.20/week.

It says that to qualify for the Disability Premium you just need to be receiving any amount of PIP; to qualify for the Severe Disability Premium you need to be receiving the Disability Premium (or IR-ESA) and the PIP daily living component, and to qualify for the Enhanced Disability Premium you need to be receiving the Disability Premium (or IR-ESA) and PIP daily living at the Enhanced rate.

I've been receiving CB-ESA since 2013, plus a IR-ESA top-up of about £1.50/week since 2015, and PIP enhanced rate for both components since 2017, and since 2017 within my ESA I've been receiving an extra amount because I'm severely disabled (the Severe Disability Premium), and an extra amount "because of the Disability Income Guarantee" which is currently £21.20 so the same amount as the Enhanced Disability Premium although it doesn't call it that so I'm not sure if that's what I'm actually receiving (I've been receiving this since I started receiving IR-ESA in 2015, when I was on DLA rather than PIP).

I'm not receiving the standard disability premium of £43.20/week though because you can't get that if you're receiving IR-ESA, so would it make sense to cancel my IR-ESA claim, thereby losing £1.50/week, and just keep claiming CB-ESA and housing benefit so that I receive all three disability premiums, making me £41.70/week better off?

Hi Spaceman

Do you think that you can get more Housing Benefit than your rent?

That's what I don't understand, because it says that you can receive all three premiums if you're receiving Housing Benefit, but only Severe and Enhanced if you're receiving IR-ESA, and I don't see how you could be paid the premiums via Housing Benefit.

Hi Spaceman

You will need to borrow a book on Benefits from the library to increase your understanding. There is a lot to learn.
