Thanks Kab. I was also wondering how to download transactions for my payPal accounts (other than PayPal Credit which produces a file each month there's any activity).
One thing I have noticed is, the headings on the CSV version that can be downloaded are more "name friendly" - and include the headings Amount and Balance. The PDF version replaces Amount with Gross and Balance with Net, neither of which are very useful words. The amounts listed under the alternative named headings are the same though.
The only other thing I've noticed is that all PayPal transactions, of whatever type, are included on the download and all are mixed in together, listed by date. I have three types of PayPal transactions: 1. a general transaction, where I use PayPal to pay for something, e.g when buying from Amazon 2. A PayPal Credit account, which is the same as a Credit Card and 3. Pay In 3, which i've used when buying something from, for example, Argos - Paypal pay the merchant and then I pay the amount back in 3 fixed instalments over three months. As a result, my list of transactions isn't exactly easy to follow. For someone who doesn't actually use PayPal to buy and sell and therefore doesn't have a positive balance on the main PayPal account (i.e. the balance is always £0 as the payment is taken directly from my bank account), the statement produced still might lack whatever it is the DWP are after.

I did that and told the person at UC each of the options of types of statements available and I sent him a version of each and none of them had an opening or closing balance on them so he said they couldn't accept any version?
Its so weird.
Is anybody else having this issue?

On a browser Log in to your PayPal account: How do I view and download statements and reports? To view and download all reports on the web: 1. Go to Activity. 2. Click the Download icon 3. Click Custom. 4. Select the report that is most suitable for you. 5. Follow the prompts to create and generate your report. 6. When the report is ready, click Download. When each month is downloaded they have several pages and have all the information UC are requesting. Opening and closing balances and all transactions.I’ve been in touch with PayPal again to ask for monthly statements that have an opening/closing balance on, a bit like a bank statement. They have just sent a load of files none of which UC will accept because they’re just lists of transactions and not what is being asked for. Then now PayPal have messaged saying: “I am sorry as we can only share the normal transaction history and we do not have an option to share the statements like bank statements which shows opening and closing balance.” So I’ve no idea what I’m meant to do.

I just did it again..PayPal;/activity/download icon/statements monthly or custom/ then there is a list of statements by month. Next to each date is opportunity to select pdf or CSV. I chose pdf and selected request, (where statement is then prepared) or it will show download if you have downloaded previously. You then save downloads to your device. Open it up and its comprehensive 5 or more page summary, the second page is definitely an opening and closing balance and further pages show transactions.
I would look at your downloads again, and point out on your journal that they must look at the pdf in its entirety, not just the first page, as the information they require is clearly available.
using this method.
Good luck its been very frustrating for you

There's a number of posts at different boards on the internet about the above problem. Not everyone can generate a statement with an opening and closing balance for PayPal as the option isn't there on many people's accounts. I've seen people post that it's only premium or business PayPal accounts where there is an option to produce a bank-like (monthly) statement with opening and closing balances. I can only produce a list of transactions between a set of dates. There is no opening, closing or running balance showing. I'm guessing yours is the same.
