Moving from IR ESA to UC was created by Antony
I have to transfer from ESA support group to UC by this Thurs. I've started filling in the form today as I got my ESA & I'll submit the form tom. I have a few Qs I'd like some help with.

1. I can't see any questions or where to upload ID docs to be verified.

2. The form asks for health conditions. Not sure why & hope this doesn't trigger an assessment as I'm stressed enough already.

3. I see that some people advise adding that you're transferring under reg 19. Where do you write this on the form.

4. Where do I request rent to be paid direct to my housing association. There's nowhere to add these on the form.

5. If they ask me to attend JC to verify ID, can I ask this to be done on the phone? I have mobility issues & severe anxiety so don't want to go to JC unless I have no other choice.

6. Finally, what can I do if first UC statement is wrong.

Hi Antony

To answer your questions--

1. You will get To Do's on your UC account that you will need to action.

2. As you're in the Support Group you don't have to give them any heath information.

3. Don't....UC have updated their IT now.

4. Send a Journal message using recipient A Payment requesting an APA of direct payment to the landlord.

5. Yes ask for a Biographical Test over the phone. They won' t like it as it means more work for the Work Coach !

6. Let us know. Depending on the gravity of the situation could be a manager's complaint.

Thanks for your response.

My local CAB helped me complete the online form in a short notice f2f appt yesterday. They wrote a message in journal to request twice weekly payments / rent paid directly to social landlord. They sent this to work coach.

ID was verified online & CAB suggested I complete the health section & include all treatments, so I did.

I don’t understand point 4 - ‘Send a Journal message using recipient A Payment requesting an APA of direct payment to the landlord’. I would appreciate it if you could clarify this & let me know where to write in journal if you still think it’s necessary after reading my post. Thanks.

Sorry, couldn't find my post. I've already transferred to UC.

I only want to know what to write to request that rent is paid direct to my housing association. The video link does not refer to this.

Hi Antony

The UC agents are snowed under with work at present migrating 85,000 ESA claims per month. I think it would be more efficient if you phoned your Housing Association and asked them to arrange it through their UC Social Housing portal as per below---

Manage direct rent payment APAs
If a tenant is having trouble managing their money, their Universal Credit housing costs could be paid straight to their landlord. This is known as an Alternative Payment Arrangement (APA) managed payment to landlord, also known as a direct rent payment.

Apply for APAs and rent arrears deductions
You can request an APA if your tenant meets any of the tier 1 or 2 criteria.

Once your tenant’s housing details have been verified, you can request an APA or rent arrears deduction.

Go to your Tenants tab.
Find your tenant.
Select Request alternative payment arrangement or rent arrears deduction.
You must select a tier 1 or tier 2 reason for your request.
The tenant receives a notification and journal message to confirm the changes.
We’ll process the APA or rent arrears deduction before the end of the tenant’s assessment period.
Once you’ve requested an APA or rent arrears deduction using the Landlord Portal, you should not submit further requests using the Apply for Direct Rent Payments service.

APAs and rent arrears deductions are usually in place within 7 working days. If you have not received a confirmation 15 working days after requesting one, contact the Universal Credit Service Centre.

For claims with the status ‘closure of claim pending’, you will not be able to request an APA or rent arrears deduction and will not be able to report any changes of housing costs.
