Got a pip review text from dwp saying my review is complete and they will send decision letter to me in next 2 weeks but not to call them as they wont be able to tell me what it is. It doesnt mention having an assessment even though previous texts have said I may still need one. Dunno what to think really. Does it mean Ive got a decision one way or the other without an assessment? Why they cant just text you the outcome as they are already communicating with you in this way is beyond me. Anyone else had one of these?

Hi Chocolady.
They have done an assessment - they have done a paper-based one. They can't text the outcome - it would breach dataprotection.

Oh ok I did wonder. I dont get 4 points in any of the categories (even though ive never agreed with at least one of the descriptors points ive always just accepted it out of exhaustion with the process) so who knows maybe they think ill have that part taken away shortly anyway. Who knows havent seen the outcome but ive included a lot of evidence as per usual. If they just give me the same descriptor points again should I do an MR? Its hard to know what to do.

Hi Chocolady
I can't advise you on whether you should put in for an MR - that's something you will have to decide for yourself. But you're thinking ahead. Until you have the decision letter, you won't know what you've scored.

Hi there well now I have the decision and Ive got 10 points for each of the categories. But no more than 2 for each of the care components apiece. Ive been awarded until 2030 but if the new government changes go ahead will I lose my award in 2028? Just wondering if its worth an MR and how long if so Ive got to do it.

Hi Chocolady
They haven't confirmed the issue of the four points yet, but if it comes into place - then it is the daily living component that will be affected not the mobility. They have talked about some people no longer being eligible, but they haven't said how this is going to work - so I can't tell you.
Other people have asked whether they should put in for an MR. I can't tell you. If you think there are questions that you should have scored higher - then it may be worth challenging. Some people worry that challenging a decision could affect what they have already scored. Only 27% of MRs are won and so the majority stay unchanged from the original decision.
You have one month from the date on the decision letter. You can find out how to do it in the Guide to PIP Appeals. Some people decide to put in an MR over the telephone and give the information to the call-handler. I wouldn't do it, as you can't tell what they write down.
