ESA to UC migration: statement not showing and need prescriptions was created by SP
My sister's migration from support group ESA to UC seemed to go smoothly. Her first statement was supposed to show on 29th May, but nothing showed. She has left a message in her journal asking why, but there is no response so far.
The problem is that she needs to collect her repeat prescriptions today - about 10 items. Can she use 'Universal Credit' as her reason to get free prescriptions, as she did previously under ESA? Or does she have to pay today?
Thank you very much.

Hi SP
The rules on free prescriptions are made by the NHS and are as follows regarding Universal Credit....
"While you're waiting on your Universal Credit decision -
Until your first assessment period is complete, Universal Credit doesn't entitle you to help with NHS costs.
If you need to pay for any NHS charges, for example, prescriptions or dental treatment, make sure you get a receipt and ask how you can claim a refund.
If you pay for a prescription, ask for a refund receipt called an FP57 when you pay - you can't get one later."
If your sister made her UC claim over 1 month ago then she should meet the above requirements.
The NHS provide an online Help with Health Costs checker ( link below )

Hi, thanks for your reply. The pharmacy told us not to worry as she should have her award by the time they put the claim through. They didn't charge us.
I really hope it works out.
Thanks for your help!
