PIP Review- points reduced was created by Orangeblossom
I'm in the middle of a PIP review and just got the copy of the medical report from the assessment.
It looks like I've got 12 points for daily living however it is recommending a short award, 18 months
whereas my previous award was for 6 yrs, also they have changed the points in two areas where I
got 4 points to 2. Also taken away my standard mobility for planning and following an unfamiliar
journey.

I'm considering whether or not to MR/Appeal the length of award, mobility and possibly the two areas
which have been changed from 4 to 2. I can see a number of mistakes in the report and reasoning
so it should be possible to do. Given the proposed changed to PIP- the '4 point rule' it's concerning they
have made this change.

But I remembered something from the past- when appealing they just select 12 points and don't consider
others because this is enough for the enhanced award. Would the Appeals therefore consider the change
from 2 to 4 points given that I already have enough points for the award?

Any advice welcome.

Hi Orangeblossom

Several members have recently reported having questions dropped from four points to two - so you are not alone in this.

I can't tell you whether, because you already have enhanced, they will ignore any challenge you make, but it's certainly a possibility.

Thanks, I have not received the decision yet and am still thinking about that to do. I guess I have two options, try and appeal / MR it now with the small risk they might take the whole award, or keep it as it is and appeal in 18 months if needed.

It's tricky to know what to do as I do feel they tried to change the points to 2 but looking at the reasoning some of it doesn't really add up, but is it worth the stress of trying to challenge it at this stage, also who knows maybe the changes to PIP won't happen if it doesn't pass the vote etc.

I'm veering towards leaving it until 18 months wondered if anyone else in the same boat and what they did
