DWP told my GP to stop issuing for notes was created by Dappernapper
I have AF and I'm waiting for a pacemaker procedure.
Im employed in a physical job that I'm unable to carry out due to Afib symptoms.
My employer is supportive and want me fit for to work again.
I only scored 6 on my ESA assessment, which I'm appealing.
The DWP has written to my GP to ask him not to issue anymore fit notes as I'm fit to do some type of work. This letter is on my medical records.
Can they do this? I need to provide my employer with fit notes to keep my job, wether I'm entitled to ESA or not.

Hi Dappernapper

Yes, the DWP can do this.

Your GP can continue to issue Fit Notes for you, and your employer can accept these as proof of you being unable to work, but the DWP is making it clear they will no longer accept them as proof that you cannot work in regard to benefits.

Replied by Dappernapper on topic DWP told my GP to stop issuing for notes
My GP has no interest in my ESA claim, they are issued for my employer, I just send them a copy.
Has it happens, I'm getting ESA again pending an appeal, but now have a letter on my medical records telling my Doctor not to issue fit notes as I'm fit for some work.
It makes it so problematic when I next visit my GP for a new Fit note.
I don't think it's right that the DWP can write to my GP and it stays on my medical records. Can anyone write to my surgery and the letter gets filed, where do they draw the line?
I'm probably over reacting but It doesn't look good makes me feel a bit of a fraud.
It also doesn't help with a works income protection indurance claim, when they inevitably request my medical records.

Hi Dappernapper

The DWP assessors offer an 'opinion' about your ability to work in respect of claiming benefits. No one has to agree with that opinion. Members often report that medical professionals, including their GP, vehemently disagree with the opinions given by the DWP assessors.

As you said your GP has no interest in your ESA claim. Your GP knows you, and I'm sure they will continue to provide you with Fit Notes for your employer.

I know it's hard, but try not to think about it. You know you're not a fraud - so don't let the opinion of one person who knows little about you to get you down.
