Hi Navigator

Thanks so much for your reply.

I've just checked my Council Tax Notice and it states "if the exemption no longer applies you should contact xxxxxx Council within 21 days of this occurring......."

There is no change my eligibility criteria, other than me migrating to Universal Credit. I had planned to inform them that I had been migrated to UC but there is nothing on the Notice that suggests I need to so I think I'll just leave it. However, I have heard of quite a few people who have been sent council tax bills after migrating, like yourself, and this worries me.

Thanks again for sharing your experience and advice, hopefully I won't need to challenge this, but, then again........

Best of Luck with your Cancer treatment, I am 9 years (and counting) in remission from Breast Cancer.

Kind Regards

Hi soulgal

You need to inform Council Tax of your move to UC when you get your first UC payment. A lot of Councils are recalculating the Council Tax bill differently where there is UC as opposed to ESA and the bill will vary from one Council to the next.
