ESA Support Group to UC confusion about payments and amount was created by Kazcr
I just got told my UC amount and its £400, which is a) lower than I was on ESA support group and b) does NOT include the limited capability for work related activity benefit (an additional £158) and no mention of the disability amount was mentioned in my breakdown. I have also still been paid my ESA while waiting for the result
what do i do? appeal it? call and ask about the disability addition?

Hi Kazcr
This is currently happening to a lot of people. The DWP are blaming staff shortages.
You should send a message of complaint on your UC Journal and choose as recipient A Payment. It will then be routed to your UC Case Manager.

Thank you!
Hoping you might also be able to clarify if a "case manager" is different to a "work coach"? I'm loathe to contact a "work coach" as I shouldn't have one as a SG member, but a case manager is a whole other kettle of wet swimming things!
When I completed my forms, in my journal was a note that according to their records I wasn't receiving any other benefit. I wrote to them at the office that provides my ESA (as it said to do) that this wasn't the case (providing evidence) and never got a single response.
I'm concerned that this will once again be the case, and £400 is CONSIDERABLY less than my ESA SG award. Even wtih the £158 extra, it'll still be less. I was of the understanding I'd be about equal on UC, not getting less. was I wrong (very likely)

Not sure, my follow up question went through so just in case (good old belt and braces approach, apologies if already did send)
Is a case manager different from a work coach? Why is there no option to direct contact a case manager in the journal instead of "work coach"?
Does messages in "Payments" go to the case manager rather than "work coach"?
I expected payment of my ESA for two weeks (ie one payment) after starting the migration, but I've been paid twice, once, the day before the decision ( 7th june) is that normal?

This has just happened to me - the dept dealing with Universal Credit had failed to record that my ESA had stopped - claiming they had no record of the letter that had been sent to me.
First step was to get onto the UC Helpline and explain the problem, this resulted in the agent making a journal entry.
I followed up with a Journal entry of my own listing a breakdown of the amount I received under ESA+HB and amount I was expecting to receive including LCWRA and Transitional payment.
Waiting to hear back

Hi Kazcr
There is a big difference. Work Coaches are based in the Jobcentre and their main role is to enforce what is known as Conditionality . So that is ensuring claimants are looking for work and issuing sanctions where appropriate.
Case Managers aren't actually managers of anything they just administer the UC claim. It's a DWP euphemism. So if you want anything important done bypass the Work Coach and send your Journal message to the recipient A Payment. It will then go to a Case Manager who is part of a large team of administrators in a UC Service Centre.
You may well be getting New Style ESA. If so you will continue to receive fortnightly payments.
Let me know how you get on.
