Sorry to bother you again, but I have another small query or two 😊in the permitted work rules on ESA 50% of contribution to a workplace pension is classed as earnings (something that I didn’t know about). If I am still contributing to a workplace pension via salary sacrifice, whilst on UC what are the rules? And do I need to submit payslips every month to make sure I am not above the work allowance amount (it’s all very daunting). My other small query is, I don’t have a valid passport it expired March 2023, can it still be classed as acceptable for photo ID, as primary evidence, as I don’t drive! Many thanks for your time and kind consideration, as ever any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Marie.

Hi Marie

PAYE details are communicated to the DWP via the RTE IT system ( Real Time Earnings ) in the same feed that goes to the HMRC. Your UC is calculated on your net pay regardless of the amounts of employer's/employees pension contributions. So as long as your employer's payroll staff collate your salary details correctly there is no deduction for salary sacrifice.
As long as the photo of your expired passport is recognisable it can be used for a Face to Face ID verification in the Jobcentre but not for the online verification.

Hi again,

Just wanted to give an update with regards to the above subject, I have now migrated to UC completed and submitted my claim today (25th June) received notification through on my journal with an appointment to visit my local job centre to verify my ID, appointment is on Thursday! I found the process pretty straight forward ( however, I don’t want to jinx it) I just took my time had all the relevant information besides me, which I had prepared in advance, thanks to the B&W guide which was very helpful and valuable! I had left a message in my journal that I’m in the WRAG and have been in receipt of ESA since 2011.

I do hope this helps someone, and can I just say try and not to get to stressed out, believe me I know that it’s easier said than done, but just take your time and you will get there, very best of luck and many thanks to the B&W team your help and guidance has been very much appreciated and most welcomed.

Kind regards,

Marie.

Hello again,

Just wanted to provide a further update with regards to the above, attended local Job Centre, to verify my ID, this morning, took under just half an hour, had more information than was needed, adviser only needed Photocard (driving license) council tax statement and bank card and that was all! Requested that my U C payment be paid vey two weeks (live in Scotland) which was sorted there and then.

So glad that it’s all done and dusted now(well for now anyway) best of luck to those have still to migrate, try and not to get too stress you’ve got this! Very best luck.

Kind regards,

Marie.

P.S. Thanks again B&W team, you’re all smashing :-)
