I'm migrating from ir-ESA to UC, with a Home Visit to verify ID agreed but still to be arranged. They've warned me that this will delay my claim by a few weeks, although (at the moment) my Journal still says I'll know if the claim is 'viable' or not by July 3rd. I'm also in receipt of enhanced PIP (both DL and Mobility) which I'm relying on to tide me over til my first UC payment.
My question is, with the start date for that UC payment still in limbo, when is the best time to tell Council Tax that my benefit is changing? My next reduced C Tax bill is due July 1st, should I tell them before or after that date? I think PIP still qualifies me for the reduction (my non-dependant son contributes a small amount to the bill so it's about £30 a month) so should I wait until I know for certain what's happening with UC?
Do not worry about the timing of your UC with regards to Council Tax. Most changes to Council Tax accounts are done retrospectively due to the backlog of work in progress they have. So tell them when your first UC payment arrives in your bank account.
