UNIVERSAL CREDIT WCA ASSESSMENTS was created by axab43
I thought heard Rachel Reeves state that Universal Credit WCA assessments are currently "turned off" and would be starting up again in April 2026. Did anyone else remember this as I can't seem to find reference to it any more. Does anyone know how long after transfer over to UC do they reassess? (Although I realise that can be a bit hit and miss.)

Hi axab43
There is a huge backlog of WCA reviews as hardly any have been actioned since the Covid pandemic. Keep an eye on the BenetitsandWork news section for any announcement. The DWP have not announced that they have been " turned off ".

Thanks. I thought I had read in a few places that the assessments start up again in April 2026? Have you heard this?

The DWP is starting to publish the proposals in the Welfare Reform bill.
Here is a press release from yesterday.

David,
From the B&W Newsletter updated today about the UC and PIP Bill in Brief, there's a mention that LCWRA WCAs have started up again and so those of us on UC LCWRA (I've just migrated from ESA Support Group) may have their award reviewed before April 2026. There's this paragraph in the newsletter today:
"The DWP has begun WCA reviews again. So existing LCWRA claimants may have their award reviewed before April 2026. But if you do not have a review before that date, or you maintain your LCWRA status when you are reviewed, then you will receive the pre-2026 claimant rate from April 2026."
My last review was deferred two years ago because of Covid. I know it will now be due again. Would you mind finding out from the back office which awards they will review first. I remember a B&W newsletter a couple of months ago said they will review 'substantial risk' claims first. My claim was awarded for 'substantial risk' to my mental health. I am now really worried, having just migrated to UC that I am also going to have a review so soon.
Thanks for your help.

Hi libra1
Thank you for that information that I have not had time to read.
But remember that there is a huge backlog of reviews waiting as they were stopped in March 2020
Also a lot depends on where resources are going to be focused. DWP staff at present have been seconded from their normal posts to do Managed Migration until Xmas.
