Hi, I am new here. I have just migrated to universal credit, I was on esa including support group. I apparently am still receiving the support element of esa but since I have been on uc, I have had to start paying council tax, before that I was on 0 council tax, has anyone else found this?
Yes some Council are using the changes to ESA and UC as a smoke screen to deliberately hike the Council Tax charge for the disabled. In fact one Tory Councillor stated that if those on disability Benefits are really hard up they can apply to the fund for the homeless and rough sleepers.
