PIP review deadline was created by Jeanette
Hi everyone,
I have just received the AR1 form and the deadline is the 12th July. At the same time I have also been given notice to give up possession of my home by the 18th August. I telephoned the number on the front of the form explaining this but they only gave me a two week extension until the 28th July. The person I spoke to said that if I then needed more time, to phone them again before the new deadline. Is there a limit to how many times I can extend the deadline? The best thing for me would be to get my PIP review deferred until after I’ve sorted out my housing situation so I can give it my full attention. Moving house is challenging for a healthy individual. I suffer with fibromyalgia and daily tasks are difficult enough without this added stress. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Jeanette
You should ring as they suggested, and they may well give you another two week extension. You are unlikely to be offered a third extension (I've only ever known a couple of people to get one). I'm afraid your housing situation is unlikely to sway them. The system can't accommodate the number of people who would give them good reasons for needing to defer.

Hi BIS,
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my query. Although it is not what I wanted to hear with regard to a deferment, I am very grateful for your warning on the number of extensions I can expect to get.
Thank you again and kind regards,
Jeanette

You may be able to get a further two week extension but getting a third extension is very difficult. I have come across a couple of instances where this has happened but in both cases then person had been admitted to hospital. Are you able to get anyone to help you to complete the form from a local advice agency such as CAB, Welfare Rights or a similar organisation? They may be able to call PIP on your behalf and get a longer extension for you.
