MANAGED MIGRATION FROM ESA (SUPPORT GROUP) to UC LCWA with new style ESA was created by D2
Is it correct that if you are managed migrated across from ESA (support group) to UC with Limited Capability for Work migrated across with you and NO work commitments.
BUT
If you are managed migrated across with new style ESA and UC (due to in my case historic tax contributions)
Do you lose the premiums you had under the Income Related ESA you were receiving?
Such as
Extra money because you are severely disabled
Extra money because of the Disability Income Guarantee
Extra money because you are in the support group
Therefore, upon managed migration across LEARNING that I am migrating across with dual new style ESA and UC does that mean I will loose the above extra top ups when I should be protected by Transitional protection.

DJ

Hi DJ
You will lose all the ESA premiums as UC doesn't have premiums. Also there aren't premiums with New Style ESA. Instead you will be compensated with the Transitional Protection. So you should not be worse off unless your Council Tax increases as a lot of members are complaining.

Hi aaajayne
When I asked David (the Moderator) I was NOT referring to inheritance tax, as I do NOT have that.
This is what I have been told also, like yourself as I have NOT, as of yet had it in writing.
However, the DWP do know from their systems who is going to be 'new style ESA with dual UC.
For me they told me it was down to past NI class 1 contributions. that is what I meant by 'historic National insurance contributions.
I have learnt that when we moved from Incapacity Benefit (in my case) that was contribution based and then when it became ESA that the letters WERE as you have mentioned every year just stated Income related.
However, apparently all letters should have stated contribution ESA with Income related premiums! BIT LATE NOW AS THEY ARE MIGRATING US ALL ACROSS. Before the end of the year!
There are INDEED as you identify an exceptional amount of issues that have NOT be explained and now we are learning of them now that were either NEVER explained as they should have been from the outset and/or causing problems in other areas such as increase in council tax.
When they accelerated the migration process I think that they were NOT fully up to date with the various issues that would come from this.
They certainly are causing us a lot of distress! Compounding the stress of the being demanding of the migration from ESA to UC! Which does make me wonder if we should have been made to migrate across at all when we were as they now state contribution based ESA with the Income related premiums. They professed that the transition would be smooth lots of support etc.., It has been an absolute nightmare
Actually the reality is where there is the dual 'new style esa with UC we are certainly being faced with a lot of NASTY surprises.
This is totally wearing me down which in my opinion, is their intention to grind us down.
They certainly have with their demands exacerbated my physical health to the point where last week my body just shut down and then physical health exacerbated mental health I am ready to explode. Because as you have identified they NEVER did explain it as it should have been explained!
It would NOT surprise me in the least further down the line due to the rushed approach to get everyone migrated across by the end of the year that certain calculations and decisions are incorrect and they have gone wrong along the way at our expense NOT just financially but physically and mentally as well!
WHY they NEVER explained and DO NOT explain it as it should be explained I will NEVER KNOW!

Hi D2
Yes Migration is being pushed forward from the originally planned end of 2028 to Xmas this year. A side effect is more poor service in other parts of the DWP as their staff are seconded to UC operations.

Biggest problem, and why it is all such a mess, is the DWP staff do not have a clue what they are doing..
The thing is, they had various centres where their staff worked, my sister being one of them [30 years service]
Then they decided that they would all have to move and work in the new "UC hub" the DWP had set up.
My sister was not going to go up there everyday, so she said could she have a "licence to work from home" This was refused, so she took early retirement.
Problem for the DWP is that 80% of the others did the same..
They later telephoned her desperately asking her to come back and saying that she COULD now work from home, but she told them to get stuffed.
The DWP then went and employed randoms off the street.
Now these people might have been "trained" [a bit] on UC, but they know precisely nothing about all that went before; Invalidity benefit, Incapacity benefit, income support, income related benefits, DLA, PIP, contribution related benefits, EDP, SDP, and the myriad of other convolutions/combinations and how they all interact.
Needless to say, they are incapable of doing their jobs. [and expected to "learn on the job"] It is all shameful..
It is not helped by the fact that at one time to get a job with the DWP you had to have 5 "O" levels, now they will employ anyone.
