I am aware of means tested benefits and rules.

Can you please tell me if you need inform DWP if your savings fluctuate below the £6000 limit ?

In my first UC assessment phase i had around £1000 in savings but recently went above that by a small amount.

Would i be right not informing DWP if savings remains below £6000 provided invome is purely from IR benefits?

Thanks in Advance

Hi Brian1888

If you are worried just send a UC journal message to the Work Coach. It will take you less than 2 minutes. More than likely it will be completely ignored and you have fulfilled your obigation. You only have to do that once per month if you think that your savings will need to be considered for the tariff income rules.

Whatever savings you have is YOUR business. You do not have to tell the DWP unless they exceed £6000. Money in your current cycle does not count, so say you got £100 a week from the DWP. If you had £6000 and then the dwp paid you, [so you had £6100], this does not matter, as long as you spent the £100 in the period it was awarded for.

Best not go anywhere near £6000 though, as if you are close to it and they know, they will hound you..
