I've been doing my and my partners joint claim from Income Related ESA, Support Group to UC, and I have to say, it's been a nightmare from start to finish and now we find that we're £187.00 per month down on what we had under ESA.
I was named on her ESA claim from the beginning.
Firstly, I helped Marion do the form online, I filled it out and she read it and confirmed it.
Then we had a telephone interview with UC and explained everything, and we thought "right, it's now just a case of waiting ", until with about 2 weeks to go we get a message on the journal "About other benefits " And it stated that as far as UC were concerned, Marion hadn't been getting ESA!!, so I contacted them and they said we had to speak to ESA, to get them to update their records.
So I tried a couple of times to get through, until with about a week to go after waiting 90 minutes on the phone I managed to speak to someone, and they said that they would email UC and give them all the details of Marion's claim, and I put a message on the journal to say this was happening, but got no answer, so I thought that they must know and we just had to wait.
So with 2 days to go, we get the same message again about Marion not getting ESA.
So I put another message to ask them to refer to the previous message and to check their files.
So yesterday I get a message asking what it's all about as the person asking had just been handed our claim, so I had to explain the whole thing to another person, and still got no answer back.
Also at the same time I get a message asking about other people living in our house, but I had already told them about our sons on the application forms and in the phone interview.
Anyway, I find out today how much they will be letting us have and if we're expected to pay our rent from it, it leaves us £187.00 out of pocket from when Marion was claiming ESA.
I was stupid to believe that the whole process would be simple and I honestly think that someone at UC has screwed up.
Being that much down per month is going to cause real problems.
If anyone has any good ideas, I'm all ears.
Thanks for looking.

Hi rocco1504

We have heard on the forum of some nightmare application, we have also heard claims with no issues.

As we do not have all the facts we would advise you to visit your local Welfare Rights Organisation: advicelocal.uk as they have access to the DWP Partnership manager who can help sort your problem out.
