Hi I'm in receipt new style ESA and universal credit, the amount of the ESA on my monthly statement it always more than the actual ESA that gets paid into my bank account for the month. The statement says it is an average of my ESA per month, I have done some calculations and now assume that universal credit calculates the amount of ESA I would have for the year and then divides it by 12 to give me average amount of ESA I am paid. Doing this I come to the same figure universal credit come to. Next month I will have three ESA payments in my assessment month, I am presuming that they will go from the usual calculation but this time I will be having more ESA paid into my account then previous months that I have only had two ESA payments. I will be grateful if someone could explain to me if I am right with my assumptions.
As ESA payments are paid every 2 weeks and UC is usually paid monthly, as you have stated UC will average your payments ESA over a year to monthly payments.
