Ive been on ESA contributions based support group.for 12 years likewise PIP enhanced for both. Because my husband couldn't face going to his ESA assessment several years ago (very bad mental health) he's only ever had PIP.
To help him receive money and hopefully get help with council tax we just applied for UC. Im now really concerned that this might have been a big mistake because if the government go ahead with their changes these UC health benefits will half? Im really confused about the whole thing and I am wishing I had not bothered because they are bombarding me with questions about working.

I was advised to put my husband as my carer because they won't pay two people health related benefits * he's also on enhanced PIP but no ESA. I have paid £180 for someone to fill in this form for me and now Im really concerned I made a big mistake. Can anyone please help?

Hi debslosjoe

Once you have applied for UC there is no going back. As you applied for UC then you will not get any transitional protection unless you received a letter from DWP inviting you to apply.

We would advise you to seek help from your local Welfare Rights Organisation who will give you advice for free.

UC does not help with council tax, you have to contact your local council and apply for Council tax support.
