Hi Angela,
Please see the reply I gave to Ted Pea, I dont know what Medically retired means? but if you are Venerable person, the DWP cannot force you to Attend. If the Equality Act applies to you, then you are entitled to reasonable adjustments. such as only Having contact with the DWP by phone, email, or letter. The DWP are incompetent, and not all staff are trained to the same level.

So you might not get a different reply from different people. once again you have to have certain conditions to meet the Equality Act. and you can look it up on line to see if your conditions meet it.

If they do then place A simple message in your UC journal, along the lines of. I would like to inform you that I am considered a disabled person under the Equality Act 2010. As such, I am entitled to reasonable adjustments to help me access and manage my Universal Credit. Please let me know how to request these adjustments and who I should speak to. Thank you.

hope this helps

Good Luck.

HI BIS,
I think Reasonable Adjustments is a far bigger problem for a lot of people than you think it is.
People are being fobbed off by the DWP instead of getting the help they are entitled to under reasonable adjustments.
Is this something B&W might consider looking into and adding it to the relevant Guides to tell people their rights under the Equality act. I think it would really be worthwhile.

Hello Navigator,

Well done for your persistence and thank you for sharing your experiences on the forum. It seems to me that the DWP should be leading the way in setting an example to all the other organisations, large and small, who continue to ignore this law with impunity.

Best wishes,

Wendy
