Hello all, I had a review for my PIP on the 2nd of May. On the 9th of May I received a letter dated the 7th of May telling me the amount I was going to be paid going forward would be reduced asI had been awarded standard for both daily living and mobility, downgraded from enhanced. By my next payment date May 11th they had cut my PIP nearly in half. The DWP had reduced both elements to 10 points each meaning I no longer qualified for enhanced which is a minimum of 12 points each. I asked for a mandatory reconsideration and received a text message saying I can expect to hear from them within 15 weeks. How are they able to change my PIP within five days yet need up 15 weeks to reconsider? It seems very unfair they are allowed to get away with this.. I am really struggling to maintain my life with the cut in income and now I may have to manage for at least another four months? I have already cut as much as I can from my budget yet I’m accruing debt on my utility bills. Does anyone have any suggestions? .
I'm sorry you find yourself in this position. Unfortunately, there is no legal timescale for the DWP to respond to a Mandatory Reconsideration, so they can take as long as they like. And yes, it is very unfair.
The only thing I can suggest is that you contact your MP and see if they can contact the DWP on your behalf. Sometimes MPs have success in hurrying cases along.
