Will I lose my transitional protection and UC if my son moves in? was created by Scoliosis warrior
Hi
I receive PIP enhanced on both elements,
UC with transitional protection and new style ESA, plus I receive contribution based ESA.
I also currently receive CB for daughter til August when she turns 18.
My UC child element is due to stop for her as she finished college last Friday.
I was moved to UC via managed migration and thus have transitional protection. My question is the following :
My son may come home in September as he has completed his university degree which he lived away for. If he does move in, will I lose my transitional protection and UC?. How will it affect my council tax reduction as he only works part time.
He doesn't want to put me in a financial predicament and is able to stay with his dad if it helps me retain my current entitlement.
I hope someone can answer this for me.

Hi Scoliosis warrior
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.
Your questions are outside the remit of the forum.
We cannot answer your question as we do not have all the facts such as, how old is your son.
Your CT may be affected when your daughter turns 18 as you would loose 25% single person deduction, so that would not make any difference if your son move back home. We would advise you to contact your local Welfare Rights Organisation: advicelocal.uk where they can all your circumstances into consideration.
