Hi,
Eight months after completing my PIP review form, I have received a text from HAAS/Maximus to let me know they're managing my PIP assessment.
Apparently, they may, or may not need to assess me, and I don't need to contact them.
Firstly, my disability is mental health related, and this text has put the fear of god in me.
How long is it likely to take for them to decide whether to give me a face-to-face assessment?
Also, apart from my personal difficulties in attending an assessment, I'm currently the sole carer for my elderly mum who has Alzheimer's.
I can't attend early appointments or leave her for long periods.
Universal Credit know I'm a carer, so would that mean I could avoid a F2F PIP assessment?

I can't tell you how long it will take them to decide about the type of assessment. It could be paper-based, telephone, video or face-to-face. Very few face-to-face assessments are being done, but if they did decide on a face-to-face, you can appeal and ask them to change it. If they refuse the first time (which would be unusual), you can appeal again and asked them to change it.
If they refused to change it twice and they insisted on a face-to-face you would have to accept it or risk losing your benefit. I am talking about worst case scenario. As I said, very few face-to-face assessments are being done, and the small number of members who have reported being sent one have successfully managed to change them to telephone assessments.
