UC to ESA migration query was created by Fulci Lives!
Forgive me if this post is a repeat. I’m not sure if I actually submitted it before.
I’m a member of a Facebook benefit advice group and have been told not to submit my migration application in the first, or last week of any month as it can cause ‘complications’ Something about wages?
Is this tue?
I received my migration letter a while ago and was planning to apply on the 30th July, which is day after my last ESA payment. This is 9 days before my deadline. I’m in the ESA Support group in a joint claim with my partner, (who is my full time carer). We have no wages coming in at all.
They also told me they don’t recommend using Citizen’s Advice as they often give out wrong advice.
This has now confused and worried me.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you

HI Fulci Lives
I'm sorry, but I don't know what the issue might be when you submit the form, so I can't comment. As neither of you works, its not going to be an issue. I know people who have submitted their forms on the last day, and everything has gone through fine, but I wouldn't necessarily advise people to do that. People choose what feels right for them. The fact is no one has control over how quickly everything gets processed - that's up to the DWP and their systems and processes.
Citizen's Advice Bureau - have many wonderful people working for them. Do they ever make mistakes? Yes, they are only human. Many people would not have been able to manage the benefits system without the CAB's help. However, it's up to individuals to decide whether they want to use their services.
