Question about UC and Rent was created by manny26
Just got my first payment of UC with LCWRA payment, but asked for Rent to be paid directly to Landlord.
But now just received message saying £400 will be taken out of your UC and paid to your Landlord at the end of August and I'd have to make up difference, obviously down to the Bedroom Tax.
But when they say out of my UC ,do they mean the UC I would have got to pay the rent ,and not the UC and LCWRA payments I've just received.

Hi manny26
If you click on your home page and then on your payments, it will give you a breakdown as to how your UC has been awarded, you will have a number of elements such as standard allowance, housing element, LCW/RA it will then show what deductions are being made such as an advance, direct deductions for rent, council tax.
Most claimants have to pay the rent element themselves unless they come under tier 1 or tier 2 in which case their landlord can apply for an alternate payment arrangement (APA)

Hi manny26
Unless you are in tier 1 or tier 2 then your request may be ignored, check your payment schedule to see if your rent has been paid direct to your landlord.
