Hi
David why i am confused i a sked a Cit Advice man can he just have UC he said yes but Universal Credit wouldn't automatically put him in LWCRA group and he would have to go through an assessment again? So i don't want him to have to that i just wanted him migrated to UC i know he would get lower n.i credits - and be put in the LCWRA group as he was in t he Support group so now i'm worried what to do? Also if we can cancel ESA claim how do we do that we are expecting a phone call on the 15th to accept Committments for ESA
Sorry to confuse everthing

Hi David rang UC they don't seem to understand anything about New Style ESA they said i should ring them and ask if i can not have it. They also don't know if he would automatically be put in LWCRA with out the ESA they said usually ESA just migrates straight over, but this New Style ESA is causing problems
I don't know what to do

Hi teresasue

The transfer to LCWRA is automatic regardless of whether you wish to claim NS ESA.

Thank you David i apologise for being in such a muddle. What would be the best way to cancel any claim shall i get Citizens advice to ring UC and say i dont want the phone app for ESA committments or would they be cross about that - should i say in Journal i don't want to claim esa JUST UC - would they undersatnd what i mean
Then ring ~ESA and tell them i don't want to claim?

Hi teresasue

I think I am correct in saying, and I'm sure David will correct me if I'm wrong, is that another advantage to being on NSESA is that if for any reason you were to go above the savings threshold of £6000/£16000, you would still be entitled to it as it is contributions based and not means tested. Obviously the UC would stop as it is means tested.

David has already confirmed the transfer would automatically place your son in the LCWRA group as he is currently in the Support Group

I recently transferred over from ESA Support Group to NSESA and UC top up. I am happy to receive both due to the above and my UC top up still gives me "passported" things like free prescriptions (I'm in Scotland so get that anyway), optical vouchers, free dental treatment etc.

Maybe have a wee think about this?

Kind Regards
soulgal
