Close down NS ESA claim before it begins was created by teresasue
Hi i decided to try and go for UC only with the esa migration. i think i will try to close down the NS ESA claim before it begins and just try the migration with UC only.
Apparently the NS ESA claim begins the moment you start a UC claim is that correct please?
My phone call from NS ESA to accept commitments is on 15th September SO IS MY first NS ESA payment of £281.10.
Hoping to shut it down before the claim and payments start? Then just do UC only and my son was in esa support group so hopefully he would be put in the LCWRA group as you advised me previously.
HOW DO I DO THIS please - do i put a message in MY JOURNAL to say please cancel and just do UC only? Do i have to let anyone else know i want to do it right and get it cancelled urgently before it starts please

Noooo.... Your ESA does not stop. You will get ESA [now renamed "new style ESA"] AND UC as well.

This is correct, because only MEANS TESTED benefits are subject to migration. Your contrib ESA continues unaffected albeit reduced to £281. Even though the DWP are too thick to even know what ESA you are on, you paid stamp, correct??? You were on ESA contrib with an "income related" top up.

I know it is clear as mud, but all is well with your migration..

john..
