First Review for PIP and delay of medical assessment being returned to DWP was created by Wednesdays Child
Hello, I had a really challenging 2hr 45Min telephone assessment for PIP on Monday just gone, I recorded via my phone with their knowledge and they recorded it too. I also had a call two weeks earlier - 25 min with them for a 'chat' as they described it.
I haven't listened back to it as I am to worried to, and I didn't realise the length of time we were talking but remember that I was really struggling to explain myself to their satisfaction towards the end.
I understood that the medical assessments reports are returned to DWP decision makers within 2 days, I called Weds and they said they received nothing. I called Ingeus and they said they definitely sent it Monday. I have called DWP again this morning and they confirmed they do not have it and that it is not unusual for it to take longer. Does anyone have any thoughts on reviews and medical assessment turnaround times - is it an email or some shared computer system they put the reports on. From the guidance I don't think Ingeus hang onto them for second opinions- they just send off to DWP don't they?
My claim doesn't end till January so I was really surprised/pleased to be contacted so early for my review back in July. But now I am genuinely unable to think about anything else and I'm spiralling. At least having a copy of that report will help me know whether to prepare for the worst or not.

Hi Wednesdays Child
You have had a long time on the phone with them.
The assessment providers normally return forms to the DWP within 48 hours. However, this doesn't always happen - sometimes assessors are just late - and sometimes a form gets randomly chosen to be part of the assessment provider's internal audit process. All you can do is keep ringing to see if it has been sent. The assessment forms are completed using specific software.
I'm sorry that the arrival of your review form was a shock, but you are mistaken in thinking that your review form was sent "early". Review forms are typically sent out up to a year before the award's end date. So, your review form was due to arrive any time after February 2025. They do this in order to try and make sure there is plenty of time to process them before the award comes to an end.
I hope that you get your PA4 (the assessment report) next week
