If you already have your form, you can ask for an extension - and they will generally offer two weeks (occasionally a month). Many people get a second extension, but it isn't a right. I have known a few people who have got a third extension, but that is rare. The DWP is not obliged to offer you more than one. They are unlikely to offer you an extension from the start that is several months, but there is nothing to stop you from asking.
