UC Review – Going out of my mind. Advice please! was created by Clare
I had a Universal Credit Review last year, lasting from mid June, when I uploaded my documents to October, when it was closed with no change to my payments.

Nine months later, in early July this year, they started another review, and as before, I uploaded all my documents immediately, within an hour of them asking for them.

I then heard nothing until ten days ago (so a wait of three months), when they gave me a phone appointment for today.

I have been sitting here waiting for an hour and a half since the time of the appointment and nobody has called. I left a message in my journal saying I was waiting, and also called them but was told that they might just be running late and that if nobody called I would be sent another appointment.

I have a severe and enduring mental health condition and am in the LCWRA group, as well as in receipt of high rate PIP. This situation is having a profound effect on my mental wellbeing and I am really getting the point where I just honestly can't take any more. I don't know what to do. I was depending on the whole thing finally being over. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  			 				Hi Clare

I'm sorry that this happened to you. Even if we had seen your post earlier the only advice would have been to sit and wait. I understand this is horrible for you. Did they ring you? I hope so? As you are in the LCWRA group, I'm not sure why you are being reviewed again so quickly, and I would raise this in your journal. Ask them why you are having a review two years running. Reiterate that you are a vulnerable person and tell them this is having a profound effect on your mental health, and see what response you get. Should you not get a response in 72 hours, then I would put in a formal complaint that you need to know why they are doing this.

Thank you. I will do as you say. Nobody called and there is no response to the messages left on my journal.
Should I post the message you suggest as a reply to the person doing the review? One of the problems I have is that nobody ever responds to my journal messages. I usually address them to ‘payment’ as I was told that this means they go to the case manager. But I never get a response anyway.
Thanks so much for getting back to me. I really appreciate it.

I would follow BIS's instructions, if you still have no joy contact your local Welfare Rights Organisation for assistance.
