Have managed to create account for ESA to UC for family member who I am appointee for. Can't get past the bank details - form will not accept sort code or account number ! Have tried entering zeros as suggested by UC helpline; logging out and back. Nothing works.... Any suggestions ?

  			 				Hi Mom97

Do you yourself receive any DWP Benefits into the bank account you are referring to ?
Is it a joint account?
I would phone Citizens Advice Help to Claim and they can create a 3 way call with UC.
Call our Help to Claim phone number
You can contact an adviser through our free Help to Claim phone service. Advisers are available 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday:

England: 0800 144 8 444

  			 				Hello Mom97,

Are you Carer for your family member? And you had to open an account for yourself and your loved one? If so, my experience might help.

I got stuck many times until all details are filled and submitted. Before that, it was tricky to understand how to "connect" my account and my husband's account (he is the main ESA-UC claimant and bank account holder).

If UC main claimant is your loved one (even if the bank account is in joint names), all these details need to be filled in from your loved one's account first. You can access to your loved one's account and fill in details, it is so tiresome to switch account though. Navigating the online platform is not very user friendly but you can do it (((hugs)))

It is exhausting and time consuming...I made many phone calls to the UC helpline - they were helpful every time. I know there is time limit to complete the tasks but you will get through!!

Hope this helps.
