Notifying a change was created by Holysmoke
Good evening all,

I am asking on behalf of a friend who is very concerned about notifying DWP of a change.

The situation is: the person in receipt of PIP has a vehicle as part of their mobility component.
Unfortunately, this individual suffered a major accident earlier this year and their partner named as a nominated driver is using the vehicle to get to visit the individual and support their long term needs.

DWP were advised earlier this year in writing that the claimant is seriously ill and in hospital. To date, DWP have not responded.

The partner is very concerned and wonders if they should prompt DWP or sit tight.

Any thoughts please?

Hi Holysmoke

If your friend is in hospital for four weeks or more then they must notify PIP that they are in hospital, their claim will stop, once they come out of hospital, they notify PIP they have been discharged and their PIP claim will be reinstated, PIP may ask for a copy of the discharge letter.

If you do not notify PIP they are in hospital, it will create an overpayment and they could get a fine.
