Light touch PIP was created by JLP
My husband is 77 he’s has a whole host of medical problems and mobility issues. He was assessed in 2016 and given an ongoing award in the letter it says they will contact him after June 26. He’s heard nothing from them. He lost his blue badge a few weeks ago and we ordered a new one it has an expiration date of April 26. This seems very odd. I’m not sure who to ring the blue badge people or the PIP lot. Do the blue badge people know something we don’t? I’m scared if I phone the DWP it will trigger them looking at his claim again. Could it be the light touch award that I’ve heard about or is that been abolished now thank you.

Hi JLP

Your husband's claim will be looked at, but it's impossible to say when. Because of his age, it will be a light-touch review. They will either send you a letter confirming that his PIP is continuing or they will send you a light touch review form which asks you to confirm if his needs are the same or have deteriorated. You can see the sorts of questions you will be asked if your look at the Guide to PIP Claims and Reviews - page 128 onwards. It is a much smaller form than the standard review form, and the vast majority (99.9%) of people who have been sent it have reported a positive outcome.

The PIP people will not have been in touch with your council about your husband's Blue Badge. I assume as it was a replacement badge it's possible the expiration date matches what you had on the previous one?.
