Hi I hope it's OK to ask this qustion here, hlp appreciated

Since c. 2010 I used to get lowest rate DLA (lifetime award, though of course it wasn't!), then had to apply for PIP and got the lower care rate, then had to reapply for PIP and got the lower care rate + the lower mobility rate (I should have had the mobility rate before but was too afraid of losing what I had to challenge the result!).

This current award (lower rate care + lower rate mobility) runs until Feb 2026. This summer I was sent the new Review forms, filled thm in as before giving ALL the detail to forestall issues with an appeal if neccessary - as advised in Benefits & Work guide. I sent the forms back in early August 2025. Have just recieived a text saying: "Your PIP review is complete, you should receive your decision letter in 2 weeks." No mention of an assessment.

What migh this mean? I am worried this is an indication they are about to cut my PIP award overnight, before the end of award date. Is this possible? Should I prepare for this?

Thank you, Clare

Hi MxClareB

There are four types of PIP assessments - paper-based, telephone, video or face-to-face. Everyone has an assessment and you had a paper-based assessment. Sometimes people request paper-based assessments and sometimes the DWP or the assessment services decides to do a paper-based assessment. I can't tell you what the outcome will be, but receiving that standard message doesn't provide any information about it. You should not assume that it is negative.

I hope you get the outcome you are hoping for.
