Confused CB ESA legacy claimant was created by Jamine19
Hi all

I’m really really confused about current legacy ESA CB going over to new style ESA from 1/12/25

Can the team explain what will happen to the tens of thousands of us in this position
What will happen to our existing awards

Will we need a fit note for the transfer to NS RSA as we moving over from legacy ESA CB

This has really ramped up many anxieties including my own

Hi Jamine19

There was an article in the last B&W newsletter.

My understanding is that CB ESA claimants do not need to do anything, they will automatically be moved over to NS ESA. You do not need to provide a fit note.

For claimants in receipt of both IR ESA and CB ESA the procedures was different.

I have a CB Esa legacy claim along with UC.
Today I received a P45.
I called Esa line as I didn't know about the name change.
They explained it was a name change for the benefit, and that nothing else will change for me.

The DWP has said that all CB ESA claims will need to have a claimant commitment for NS ESA
