I asked my GP Practice to write a letter for my PIP award. They did so initially for the claim (5 years ago )and also more recently for UC health element which gave me LCWRA for a chronic long term physical illness. In those situations the GP phoned me and for the first I actually had an appointment.
The letter states all the activities I have difficulty with and does support the award being continued but The Dr didn't contact me and just wrote it. She added the following statement to the letter. "This report is prepared from her medical record, previous PIP application letters of support and the patients own account of her symptoms, I have not met the patient herself."
I wondered what anyone else thought on the forum. I wondered about adding it at all to the review form with that beginning. Its almost impossible to get to meet with a Dr at my surgery .I have the GP letter to support the LCWRA written Feb last year so could include that but obviously not as specific about the PIP activities.
So stressful all this.
Any advice would help. What do you think they will make of start to a letter like that ?

I can't tell you what to do here. It is something you are going to have to decide for yourself - but if you think the letter could harm your application, I would not include it. A relative of mine had a letter from a medical professional that said ..."he is not going to get better at the moment". They were horrified when they saw the letter because the claimant has a serious lifelong condition that will never improve, and they were worried that it would mean the DWP would review more frequently. They decided not to include the letter even though they had no other letter from a medical professional. Was it the right decision? We have no idea - they had to go with their gut instinct.
Hopefully, some of our members will say what they think.
