UC LCWRA & saving up for rent was created by ivyfox
Thanks to your invaluable advice, I successfully underwent Managed Migration to UC in the summer.

At the time of registering to receive UC, there wasn't a tick box which reflected accurately how I have to pay my rent. Nor was there space allocated for further details, so I simply entered the monthly rent amount as stated on my private tenancy agreement, which is £1100.

The property management company requires that I pay a minimum of 6 months' rent in advance, in return for which I receive a tenancy of 6 months. The renewal date is March 2026.

I'm a bit worried that my savings may just go over the £6K threshhold, depending on when monies enter & leave my account in March.

Would you recommend I put a note in my journal to explain the rent payment method? Please advise.

Thank you for all that you do :)

Hi ivyfox

It is fine to pay 6 months rent in advance and then get your monthly rental charge as per the tenancy agreement met by UC Housing Costs.
How much are your savings before paying the rent in advance?
