I'm trying to clarify how the DWP and their assessment agents (Capita, etc) should deal with assessing someone with chronic ptsd...where they have been told, in writing by a GP, that asking questions regarding the ptsd raises the very real danger of suicidal ideation. This was in relation to a PIP application and I have been in correspondence with Capita HQ in London asking for their 'views' The result? No response...rather they conducted a PA3 v2 and the DWP awarded Standard Mobility and nothing for Care. The PA3 v 2 fails to tick boxes for any Care elements on the grounds that the claimant does not experience problems for the majority of days...which is, of course, incorrect as issues immediately arise when the claimant is asked to speak about the causes! So it is impossible to justify the majority of days principle...as it's unpredictable!

I'm helping the claimant with a Man Recon.

The claimant has a similar issue with UC where the DWP say they need to look for 'better paying' work or be sanctioned...the work the claimant is doing is therapeutic regarding the ptsd...so suggesting other work misses the point (the Jobcentre know the work is health related...is therapeutic)

Any thoughts?
